QSMA Presidents Report 2025
Dear Members,
Over the past year, QSMA has continued to promote and support the best of Queensland seafood through several key campaigns and partnerships.
Australian Prawn Campaigns
QSMA continues to support the Love Australian Prawns campaign, although this program is
now gradually winding back. We remain proud to have been involved since its early days
and continue to share its message encouraging consumers to choose local, sustainably
sourced Australian prawns.
As proud members of the Australian Council of Prawn Fisheries (ACPF), QSMA also supports
the Taste the Wild campaign, which highlights the unique qualities of Australian wild-caught
prawns. The campaign featured strong social media content, including posts with local
fishers like Harry Butterfield, showcasing the freshness and sustainability of our product.
Together, these initiatives have helped keep Queensland prawns front of mind for
consumers and reinforced the importance of supporting Australian wild-caught seafood.
Collaboration with Queensland Fisheries
QSMA also worked closely with Queensland Fisheries on a successful Easter social media
campaign promoting Queensland seafood. Together, we delivered 15 posts across
Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn — with great engagement results:
- 49,995 total video views
- 59,177 total reach
The campaign’s most popular posts can be viewed here:

- Facebook: 🐟 It’s Fresh. It’s Queensland. Sustainable…

This partnership created a strong bank of content that can continue to be used for future
promotions, including the upcoming Christmas season, helping to keep Queensland seafood
in the spotlight year-round.
Queensland Seafood Industry Awards – March 2026
Hosted by QSMA, the Queensland Seafood Industry Awards will be presented at the Gala
Dinner on Friday, 13 March 2026 at Blackbird, Brisbane.
Planning is well underway, and we’re currently calling for nominations and seeking sponsorship partners to help make it another memorable event. We’re still looking for more nominations and sponsorship, so if anyone knows individuals or businesses who would be a good fit for the award categories, please reach out. The 2024 Awards saw a record turnout, and we’re looking forward to 2026 being even bigger and better, especially with the excitement of a new venue for event.
Seafood Directions 2026
Beyond that, we’re looking forward to Seafood Directions 2026, which will be held at the
brand-new Sydney Fish Market. It promises to be a major event for the national industry and
a great opportunity for Queensland to be strongly represented.
I’d like to thank Neil Moretto for his continued dedication and for keeping everything
running smoothly, as well as the committee and all our members for your ongoing support.
It’s been a privilege to serve as President and to represent such a passionate and
hardworking industry. I look forward to seeing QSMA continue to grow and will always
remain a strong supporter of the association and the Queensland seafood community.
Kind regards,
Ian Hamilton
President
Queensland Seafood Marketers Association
