The 2024 Queensland Seafood Industry Awards will be presented on Friday, 15th March 2024 at the Rydges South Bank in Brisbane during a Gala Dinner and celebrations.

ABOUT THE AWARDS

The Queensland Seafood Industry Awards showcase the Queensland seafood industry; its value to the national economy, its professionalism, and its commitment to supplying some of the finest seafood in the world to local, national and international markets.

It does this through recognising and celebrating the positive contributions of individuals, partnerships, businesses and organisations towards a sustainable and profitable Australian seafood industry. As is the case in previous years, State Award winners will go on to the National Seafood Awards presented at  Seafood Directions Conference held from 10-12 September 2024 in Hobart, Tasmania.

The Gala Dinner will not only reveal the 2024 Queensland Seafood Industry Award winners but also provide Gala Dinner guests the opportunity to meet and mingle with Queensland’s celebrity chef and seafood enthusiast Chef Mel Alafaci also known as “Chef Mel – The Happy Chef”.

In addition to the awards presentation, dinner guests will be treated to an “dinner talk show” where Chef Mel Alafaci will join the evening’s MC to discuss “all things cooking and seafood”.

With a smile that can light up a room, Chef Mel Alafaci has become a globally recognised chef and personality. Her recent success in the USA means she’s Australia’s hottest rising culinary personality.

She is the proud founder of the very popular Vanilla Zulu Cooking School in Brisbane. With an entirely new and fresh approach to cooking and a culinary lingo all of her own, she makes cooking fabulous fun.

In this quick one-minute chat with Chef Mel, you’ll discover the source of her creativity and what she loves to share. Hear about her growing up on a remote property in Zimbabwe South Africa and how that influenced who she is today.
